Jack Lemmon actor Born: 2/8/1925 Birthplace: Boston
Academy Award-winning film and stage actor who excelled at both comic and dramatic roles. His films include Mister Roberts (1955), The Odd Couple (1968) with Walter Matthau, and David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross (1992). In 1999, Lemmon created two superior performances for television. The first was Tuesdays with Morrie, an interpretation of the true-life story of Morrie Schwartz and his relationship with Mitch Albom. The second, his portrayal of Henry Drummond (read: Clarence Darrow) in the TV movie Inherit the Wind, earned him a Golden Globe. Died: 6/27/2001
